Sally was a beautiful women who had her first lump removed with she was 16. Went on to go to school
graduate Salidictorian at Port Barre High, continued her education at USL made the Dean's List and the book of "Who's Who"
. She was a honor roll student the whole time while in school. She was real big into getting an education.
She went on to marry her high school sweetheart Paul Lacomb, and have three children, Abby, Allen-Lee,
Jacob. When Sally was 32 she found another lump, this time it was cancer. She did all the right things to do to make sure
she caugt this in time. Her baby Jacob was 2 at the time.
A few years later, when hurricane Lilly came into town, she was a teacher at Eunice High School,
she broke out in a rash, thinking that this was from the heat of the lights being out she didn't worry to much. Then she discovered
another lump, but by this time when she had this checked the tumors were all over. This was right before thanksgiving. She
continued to fight the whole time, thinking that she was going to beat this cancer. This is when we had the first Heart of
Acadiana Pageant.
This courageous lady never left that pageant for one minute. She sat down the whole time at my
side and never moved. When the day was finished they had to carry her out the building but she didn't want to let all the
people down who helped so much. That year we raised for her 1500.00. All she wanted to do was take her family on a vacation.
She never got the chance, she died one month to the date later.
The weekend of her death, she knew her time was coming. She wanted to sit in a chair and rock.
So from the Friday night till the Monday this person never laid her head down, she didnt want to go. She would look in the
sky and say "I love you too" but " I am not going". She would cry for her moma and say " I can't see you, Moma" all the time
her moma was at her side.
Never in my life have I seen someone suffer so much and give so much to people. This has changed
me forever. My own grandfather had breast cancer. Men do get this also, it has no boundries. She was so strong and wanted
to live so bad, that her last words were I am not going.....
We buried Sally when her baby turned 5, it was his birthday.
Please get a check-up. I don't want to give a pageant for you...
